Resources and VO Coaching

Voiceover - it is an exciting career to get into, and I am often asked about it, so I have put together a bunch of great articles about getting started, and some pointers on websites and blogs that you should be looking into.

These are the first steps… You will have to invest time and money in this if you want it to be more than a hobby - it is competitive out there, but totally doable!

Where to Start

General Information

Acting Classes

Do you have any Acting experience? It is Voice Acting. So, check out Second City or Groundlings for Improv & community theatre in your hood. Many people in TV narration start in these very places.

Software and Gear

You’ll need a home studio to do the recording. 90% of the work is done by you, including all sound engineering & editing. Download Audacity recording software for free. Get an affordable condenser mic like a Rode NT1 or NT1A – or a shotgun mic like a Rode NTG2 (or something similar). When you start thinking about more advanced recording equipment, then Uncle Roy is worth talking to.
